Mother's day & Graduation!

Happy Mother's Day to all of those special women that provide nurture to children around them!
Mother's Day began for me on Friday morning when their was a knock on the door very early.  I was surprised with flowers.  Later on that day, my very favorite chocolates were delivered (i.e., Fanny Mae pixies).  Shawn then humored me and took me to the Kris Allen parade and then a great dinner at Colton's.  The whole evening was great.  Thanks!  Since then he has tried to do everything he could to make it a great weekend!  Thanks!
Saturday, we spent most of the day with graduation activities.  I taught a senior level class this past semester.  I had several of my students graduating so this year, so I decided to attend for the first time.  It was fun watching them walk across the stage and to be there to support their success and hard work in earning their degrees.
One student asked us to attend her commissioning as an officer in the military.  We were very honored that she had invited us.  They had a speaker at the ceremony who had served time in Iraq.  It was interesting to hear his perspective on the military's role there.  I have to say I gained a new appreciation for our nation's soldiers.  Whether you agree or disagree with our involvement there you have to appreciate the brave men and women their risking their lives fighting for something they believe is making the world a better place.  I am so thankful for their love and devotion for our country.
