My Job

I am a cook, a housekeeper, a parent, a teacher, a referee, a nanny, a nurse, a handy man, a maid, security, and a comforter. I don't get holiday, sick pay, or a day off, I work through the day and some of the night, I am under paid and over worked. Now tell me that YOUR job is harder then mine. Repost this if you're a MOM. ♥

Spring Break 2010 Comes to an End!

Wow, it's amazing how fast a week can go by. We had a nice spring break (minus Jeron getting strep throat).
Last weekend, Shawn's family was together in California to watch Shawn's brother-in-law portray Christ in the stake's Easter Pageant. I surprised Shawn with a ticket to California to join them. We drove down to Dallas (tickets were less than half as much from DFW vs Little Rock). The trio and I stayed at my Aunt's in Keller while Shawn enjoyed Sunny California sun we braved the Texas snow. Shawn absolutely loved being with his family. His favorite part was being able to surprise them (only his mom & dad knew he was coming). He loved meeting the most recent additions of the family and get to know them. He raved how adorable the Lillian (9 months, his little brother's baby) & Ryker (3 months, his sister's baby),
The trio and myself of course enjoyed our time with my family as well. My grandparents visited with us on Monday which was much appreciated b/c my grandma has been a bit under the weather. We rushed back on Tuesday for Jaxon's audiology appointment at the Children's Hospital which ended up being 3 hours long. So, it definitely was a long day but the kids were champs. The rest of the week, we enjoyed being together and relaxing. I didn't vacuum once which says a lot since I typically vacuum once a day. Now, here it is Saturday and I have to prepare a lecture for Monday and I have zero motivation. Hopefully, it will hit soon!

Jaxon has been wanting a tie. So we got him & Jeron matching shirts and ties. Jaxon refused to take a picture but Jeron cheesed it up for the camera.
Saying goodbye to Aunie J.
Jeron looking down the stairs & pouting b/c mom dared to say No to something at Auntie J's house. Mom's are so mean!

Fancy Nancy goes to Ellen Smith

This week was the book character parade at Ellen Smith. Each student had to choose their favorite character out of book, dress up like them, and bring the book. The entire school then had a parade and they walked by one by one. The costumes were very created and they boys enjoyed watching especially when they recognized one of their favortites. They loved being able to see our friends who attend the same school as Ashlin.
Ashlin chose Fancy Nancy among many others. Of course, she was the most adorable. The night before we sectioned her hair and put it in reverse twisties and then weaved purple ribbon into each twisty. Then we put her hair in rollers. Another long evening of hair fun! The results were definitely worth it. I was finishing up Friday morning and asked her something using her name. She corrected me and said, "My name is not Ashlin, it is Nancy Fancy Nancy!" She immersed herself in her character all day. She said Fancy words & the french words she has learned from the book all day (e.g., Bonjour Mom!). The day was absolutely a kodak moment.

We had the missionaries over for dinner last night. We were telling them about the big day. Jaxon left the table. Shortly afterwards he walks up to me & says I have my things ready for Kindergarten. I asked him to show up his outfit. He went and put a pirate outfit on and had one of his favorite pirate outfits. He is so smart and is counting down the days until it is time for him to be in Kindergarten.

Jaxon is following in Ashlin's footsteps and Jeron is following in Jaxon's footsteps. Jeron has been wanting to be a chef just like Jaxon. He helped me make dinner the other night. He was so delighted and wanted to do as much as I would let him.

Ashlin the Sugar Bear Dancer

Ashlin had the opportunity of attending the Sugar Bear Dance Team Clinic. It was a 2 hour practice with one on one instruction. Afterwards, they got to perform a dance with the team at half time. It would be an understatement to say she had a great time. I was impressed with the dance team's interaction with the girls. They definitely had fun but at the same time the girls learned quite a bit in a short amount of time. Ashlin did really well with the dance .... after she warmed up (as you can see). Well worth the money and we look forward to next year when she can participate again.

Chef Jaxon

Jaxon's preschool went to visit UCA's head chef. Each of them got their own little chef hat, got to help prepare food, and then enjoyed their snack. Jaxon talked a mile a minute telling us how much fun he had. He insisted we make macaroni and cheese together and wanted to be the chef!

Kindergarten Music Program

I am definitely behind! I could offer an excuse for my lack of blogging, most likely the same reason that others are behind as well....."Life happens".
Ashlin had a kindergarten music class in February. It was originally scheduled for the 15th. Shawn's mom flew out a week earlier than planned where she could see Ashlin's performance. As we all know the 7-8 inches of snow arrived shortly after Nana's arrival and everyone's (at least the majority of people in Conway, Utahn's please refrain from laughing) life was put on hold for 3 days. The program was rescheduled the day after Nana left.
Ashlin was very excited for her music program. She did a great job as well as the rest of her class. It was fun to see her up their singing. She looked so big! Our princess is growing up right before our eyes!
