California Cousins

We were able to visit Southern California last weekend. We even felt a little homesick for our San Diego days. There are definitely things we miss about California but we are happy here in Conway.
Our time in California was short but was packed full of fun and with many treasured memories. Saturday, we got to spend time in the sun (and only 70 degree temperature) at the cousin's swim meet. After cheering them on with their great performances we had lunch at Soup Plantation and ate and ate and ate and ate. That is one place we really miss! We celebrated Allison's birthday (Heather, Shawn's oldest sister's daughter). We followed this up with her baptism. It was a beautiful baptism and we are so very proud of her decision and her example. We had lots of cookie cake afterwards. We were able to sneak out and see Harry Potter! Absolutely loved it and can't wait to see it again!
Sunday, we went to church with Shawn's other sister (Rebecca) and was able to be there for her baby's blessing. We made a mad dash to Heather's ward where they would recognize Allison for her baptism. We got to enjoy 2 sacrament meetings in California. It's nice to see that wherever you go the church is the same. The rest of the day was family time spent at the pool and eating yummy food. The cousin's had a special performance "The Nana Concert" to show off their many talents that night.
Monday, we played at a Jumpzone place and had a delicious lunch at Rattler's (another place we miss). Afterwards, we had to rush off to the airport.
Once again, the visit was short but it was definitely worth it and filled with quality time. The cousins spent hours and hours of making precious memories. The trio snuggled their baby cousin as often as they could. It was hard to tear away the baby from the adults. Of course, the siblings enjoyed being together. Nana & Papa would say having the whole family together is priceless (and I think we would all agree!). My only disappointment is that I forgot to take my camera for the baptism. Hopefully, someone will share their photo's with me (HINT HINT)! Our next fun filled adventure with the Charlton clan will be in Florida in January and we can't wait!

Summer update!

We are having a great summer.....staying very busy. I had the month off in June to spend with the trio. They sure are great kids. They had fun in their swim lessons and Shawn tries to take them to the UCA pool any chance he gets to keep up their skills. Ashlin would really like to try out for the Hendrix Aquakids swim team. I returned to work in July an have been missing the trio ever since. Monday I began teaching Psychology of Women again. Shawn just finished teaching for the summer. The rest of his summer will be enjoying the trio and getting his application for tenure ready which is no easy task!
To sum it up we are surviving the hear and enjoying life!

Normal Illinois

Shawn was invited to a conference in Normal Illinois. So, we decided to tag along and keep him company on the 9 hour drive. We left on Friday, June 24th and stayed until Sunday. The trio and I spend our entire time at the hotel's pool and the Children's museum. The trio had a blast I was excited by the end of the trip!

Ashlin's 4th Dance Recital

The first of June Ashlin had her 4th Dance Recital. She did a great job and made us very proud. It has been fun watching her these past 4 years as she develops here talent.

Happy 7th Birthday, Ashlin!

I am quite behind posting. June 6th was Ashlin & Shawn's birthday. We celebrated at the skating rink & Larry's Pizza! We had a great time celebrating their birthday's. As always, we are very grateful for the love and support from our friends. Thanks for always celebrating special days with us.
I can't believe how grown up Ashlin is and that she has been a part of our lives for 7 years. It seems like only yesterday that I was anxiously waiting for her to be born. I will be forever grateful that Heavenly Father blessed me with the opportunity to be her mother. She is a beautiful girl inside and out. She continues to be an example to me with her sweet faith and shining testimony!
