Little Rocker's Marathon

Yesterday Ashlin participated in the Little Rocker's marathon. The children run 25.2 miles on their own and then come together to run that last mile. Ashlin & Shawn have been running all month and yesterday was a wonderful way to celebrate her (and dad's) hard work. She was very proud of her self and the accomplishment she completed. The day was not without a bit of drama. Friday evening we went to look for final instructions and realized that you had to pick up your packet that day. We were absolutely sick. We talked to Ashlin and told her that she might not be able to run due to our mistake. She was so sweet about it! We got their early it was an absoute mad house. People everywhere! We talked to a couple of people and they would point us to a new direction. We happened to run into our friend Janae and she asked how we were doing..... I broke down very overwhelmed. Running into Janae in the midst of thousands of people was an answer to a prayer. She knew one of the people organizing the marathon. He directed us to the right people in order to pick up her packet where she could run. Thank you so very much Janae!! She ran her last mile with new friends she made. She loved it. Her time was a bit slower but she was enjoying he crowd cheering her on! Way to go Ashlin. We are so proud of you and look forward to cheering you & Jaxon on next year!

In the Little Rockers marathon kids ages 7-12 ran. They had each group separated. They staggered the groups by 5 minutes or so to help pace the runners. Since she was the youngest. She would keep moving up as the next group began their run. Each new move I would elbow my way up and yell until I could get her attention and let her know I was there and give her words of encouragement. As I was trying to get her attention I would think to myself, "Ashlin look over I am right here. I wanted her to know that I was there supporting her." After a couple of times I began to ponder this must be how Christ feels at times with us. We are competing the race of life and he is right there calling our name to let us know that he is following us and cheering us on. It is my hope that we will all listen for His cheering and feel comforted that we are never alone.
